At Old Dominion University’s Training and Technical Assistance Center (T-TAC), we are committed to supporting educators as they build strong, skilled, and confident readers—especially students with disabilities and diverse learning needs. Our Reading focus area is designed to provide high-quality, evidence-based resources and strategies that promote literacy for all learners across Regions 2 and 3.
This area offers tools and guidance to strengthen your instruction in areas such as: Focused reading skills (phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension), Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) for reading, Differentiated approaches to meet the needs of struggling readers, Effective use of data to inform reading instruction, Culturally and linguistically responsive literacy practices, and High-Leverage Practices (HLPs).
Whether you’re a general or special education teacher, reading specialist, interventionist, or administrator, our goal is to help you deliver reading instruction that is inclusive, accessible, and impactful. We believe that all students can learn to read and that literacy is a gateway to greater academic achievement and lifelong opportunities.
If you have questions or need support, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help you foster reading success for each and every student!
