Spring is Blooming with Opportunities: Resources and Trainings to Support Teachers and Teams

As summer quickly approaches and we begin planning for a new school year, here are a few professional learning opportunities and resources to consider that will help ensure your staff is ready and equipped to provide high quality instruction in the months ahead.

HLP Resources

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is hosting a HLP Palooza. These virtual sessions are based on content from the 2nd edition of High-Leverage Practices for Students with Disabilities (Revised & Updated). Speakers include the authors and editors of the new edition, members of the original High-Leverage Practices writing team, and national HLP experts ready to amplify your use of the HLPs. If you are unable to attend or perhaps just interested in learning more about the revisions through self paced resources, visit the CEEDAR Center to download the revised book at no cost or consider using some of the HLP Practice videos and assessment tools that are available. 2024 CTA Save the Date!

The Content Teaching Academy (CTA) is a professional development program for in-service teachers hosted on the campus of JMU each summer. The CTA offers targeted and sustained professional learning on a variety of topics. Academies offer high-quality professional development that includes in-depth studies across a range of content areas. In addition, each component of the CTA is designed to engage participants in critical dialogues of practice with instructional sessions conducted by scholars and master teachers who understand the challenges associated with today’s classrooms.  Sessions are scheduled for June 24-27 at JMU’s Festival Conference and Student Center. Specially Designed Instruction Supports

A specially designed instruction (SDI), three-part train the trainer series is available for one year only on TTAC Online. Virginia school division personnel will be able to view these trainings and utilize curated materials to develop your own professional learning options to provide quality professional development for practitioners on SDI.
