New Math Resources from the VDOE

The 2016 Virginia Mathematics Standards of Learning are now fully implemented and will be assessed starting in Spring 2018.  The VDOE has resources available to support implementation of the 2016 standards.

2016 Mathematics Curriculum Framework Documents

Updated Standards of Learning and Curriculum Framework documents are available on the VDOE’s website.  The updated curriculum documents include Virginia’s Mathematics Process Goals as well as position statements on Instructional Technology, Computational Fluency, Algebra Readiness, and Equity.

2016 Math Instructional Plans (MIPs)

Math Instructional Plans (MIPs) are the new and improved version of the previous  Enhanced Scope and Sequence (ESS) lessons.  Instructional plans are available at every level of mathematics–from Kindergarten to Algebra, Functions and Data Analysis.

2016 Co-Teaching Math Instructional Plans (MIPs)

Co-Teaching Math Instructional Plans utilize the six common co-teaching approaches, and contain suggestions as to how co-teachers can effectively utilize the expertise of each teacher to enhance lessons and activities in a co-taught classroom.  Additional co-teaching resources are also available through the link.

2016 Math Vocabulary Word Wall Cards

Math Vocabulary Word Wall Cards  provide a visual display of mathematics content words that can be used as visual cues and to assist in vocabulary development.  For more information read Teaching Vocabulary in the Math Classroom.
