Free digital resources for students in Virginia

Virginia state

A great free digital resource for students is Find It Virginia.  Managed by the Library of Virginia it includes many databases that students can use for literacy, learning, and research.  Free to residents of Virginia are e-books and digital resources including newspapers, magazines, and encyclopedias for elementary, middle, and high school students.  It is a great resource for all students, as it can be continued to be used after graduation.  Find It Virginia is free to Virginia residents who have a library card. Students may need to use their guardian’s library card.  To obtain or renew a library card, register at the Library of Virginia.

A variety of online learning products, digital reading content, and databases provide access to ebooks, magazines, newspapers, and research content designed to address age appropriate learning.  Here are just a few.  Early Learning by World Book is designed for children pre-K to 2nd grade.  Kids InfoBits is geared for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.  Encyclopedia.com provides research content to middle and high school students. Career Transitions gives advice for obtaining the skills needed to join the work environment.  For educators, Inclusive Resources provides links to organizations that support a variety of students including those with vision or hearing impairments and/or learning challenges due to autism, dyslexia, or deaf-blindness.
