Virginia’s I’m Determined Project

This is a group picture of IMD's Youth Leaders.

The I’m Determined (IMD) Project, which promotes self-determination skills for students with disabilities, is a successful program with far-reaching influence.  Currently, IMD’s tools and strategies are being implemented in 7 countries, 30 states, and over 70 school divisions in Virginia.  Successful teachers are able to incorporate core components of IMD such as decision making, goal setting, self-regulation, and self-advocacy into existing instructional initiatives.

One of the highlights of the I’m Determined Project is the annual Youth Summit.  Held each June at James Madison University, the IMD Youth Summit hosts approximately 120 Virginia youth with disabilities and their families.  Participants learn about self-determination skills from our IMD Youth Leaders.

For more information on the I’m Determined Project including videos, tool templates, and Youth Summit applications visit http://www.imdetermined.org

The I’m Determined Project will be hosting a teacher training on November 13 & 14 in Newport News.  Teams of teachers from Virginia elementary and middle schools are invited to attend.  Registration is FREE!  Get more information here: IMD Fall Training 2017 Save the Date
